Celebration of Cultures

Our newest festival celebrates the many cultural aspects of immigrants to our area through music, dance, food, and arts. The festival is free and open to the public from 10 AM to 3 PM on the grounds of our heritage campus.

This year will feature Dekoboko Taiko Drumming from Seattle, Sqweez the Weezle Celtic music from the Tri-Cities, Tsunami Pinata from Seattle, and several local groups representing world music, including Ballet Sol y Luna youth dancers and Quincy High School Spectrum Choir. Food booths ($2 tickets) allow visitors to sample cuisine from a variety of countries, including Japan, the Netherlands, Central America/Mexico, Germany, Italy, and Basque Paella. Hands-on crafts for children and families are also featured, plus a dress-up photo booth, world map heritage identification, world flag temporary tattoos, and face painting

The festival culminates at 2:30 with the Parade of Nations and a brief program, celebrating the many cultures that make this place home. The parade then moves to the flagpole containing the United States flag, where the National Anthem is sung and the 23 plus flags of nations are placed. It is a moving tribute to the idea of “e Pluribus Unum” – out of many, one.
