Make your plans to enter the upcoming Valley Visions Art Exposition to be held SEPTEMBER 4-12 at the Community Heritage Barn in Quincy. This will be a beautiful way to showcase the landscapes and faces of our beautiful area. An excellent 'stay at home' activity for the whole family!

PRIZES

$50 Cash Prizes given in each category to Students ages 13-20, Adults ages 21-60 and Seniors ages 60 and over.
$200 Cash Prize given to People’s Choice winner.

SPECIAL CHILDREN’S EXHIBIT

Each child will receive a photo with their artwork and a special commemorative sticker. Sponsored by Friends of QVHSM

RULES & REGS

Quincy Valley Historical Society & Museum is a non-profit located in Quincy, WA. We have a long history of providing quality cultural events and programming. We are pleased to host this first Art Exposition, which will highlight the beauty and spirit of the Quincy Valley. We invite artists to enter and be part of this new event.

OPPORTUNITY

Cash awards will be given in each category for all age ranges 13 and up. A separate Children’s Exhibit will feature artwork ages 4-12, with each receiving a photograph and embossed seal for participation. No entry fee for children’s exhibit. Awards will be given at a special reception (date to be announced) in the Heritage Barn. Artwork may be submitted for exhibit only. Please specify on the entry form.

THEME

Valley Visions is the theme of the exposition. Artwork should portray the unique human or natural landscapes of the Quincy Valley area. (i.e. portraiture of farmworkers, families enjoying local recreation, pioneering people, landscapes of water, farms, river, trails, hills, etc.)

ELIGIBILITY

Open to living artists of Grant and Douglas county or members of QVHSM. Children’s show is open to any child in Grant/Douglas county. Artwork must be original work created by the artist and must depict or be inspired by the theme. Artwork may be listed for sale, but transactions handled by the artist, not the QVHSM.

CATEGORIES

1. Two-Dimensional: paintings and works on paper; oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, drawing, etching, printmaking, chalk, charcoal, colored pencil, crayon, graphite, pastels, collage, inks, washes, wax, computer-generated art.
2. Photography Color or black and white.
3. Three-Dimensional: sculpture, assemblage, freestanding or wall hanging pieces, including wood, metal, stone, glass, mosaics, ceramics, fiber, fabric, recycled materials or mixed media.

SIZE LIMITS & HANGING

For two-dimensional art and photography, work should not exceed 48” x 60” or weigh more than 25lbs. Hanging art may be framed or unframed, but must be ready to hang with professional hanging wire attached. (no sawtooth or bracket hangars, triangles, tape, etc.) Children’s art exhibit pieces must be mounted on cardboard or heavy cardstock with 1” margin showing on all sides. Heavy freestanding pieces must be coordinated with QVHSM prior to the show.

ENTRY FEE

$10 entry fee for up to 2 pieces of submitted art per artist. Check or cash only paid upon submittal of the entry form to QVHSM, PO Box 1003, Quincy, Washington 98848. Payable to QVHSM. Non-refundable. Children’s Art Exposition (ages 4 - 12) has NO entry fee.

ENTRY IMAGES

Photos of entry items must be submitted with the entry form. Use phone text to 509 398-1949 or email to [email protected]. NOTE: Due to the community nature of the exposition, we will not display images containing nudity, political themes, or vulgar or obscene language or image. Artwork will not be accepted unless a photograph accompanies the entry form.

RIGHTS

Copyright remains with the artist. QVHSM reserves the right to post artwork images for use in marketing and on its website. Artists will be credited at each image use.

LIABILITY

QVHSM will make every effort to protect artwork, including secured, alarmed, AND air-conditioned facility, but cannot be liable for damage or loss, including glass framing.

ARTIST’S BIO

For each piece submitted, the artist must submit a title and may send a 50 word summary of the piece / personal bio.

JUDGING

Judges will be announced prior to the show and will represent experience in artistic work and/or art education. Awards of the judges will be final.
